A little about why Luverly chooses to have OPS
This page is admittedly too long ~ But you'd be astounded at the flack we get when
something we're asking for cooperation about "isn't on the OPS page".. ugh (LOL)
An OP is a room OPerator.
An OP in 40s50s4Fun is just like everyone else---
A chatter. They just have certain tools at their disposal to enable them to take care of problems as they arise. Such as a jerk coming into the room and harassing folks. Or a flooder or hacker coming
in to cause havoc cause it's "fun".
All our OPs came into our room to make friends and have fun without having to contend with raunchy or ugly behavior. They found that could happen in our rooms, and stayed.
Now they've volunteered to help keep it that way :-)
There are a number of things that come up that make having room OPerators desirable. Most of the roomies have made our rooms their home because the room is kept free from "problems" for the most part. In order to accomplish that, there have to be OPs.
Why so many Ops? Because I want our OPs to be able to have a good time too. I want them to feel they can be in whisper or IM or just enjoy chatting, like they did before becoming an OP.
If there are several OPs, usually at least ONE of them is paying attention to what's happening in the room. Even with as many OPs as we have, there are times there isn't an OP at the wheel (afk) so be sure to whisper one if you're having a problem. Just because an OP misses something one day, and doesn't act on it, and a different person does the SAME thing the next day, and the OP acts on it... doesn't mean they are playing favorites... it just means they're human.
At times, an OP could be afk... please understand that an OP would never intentionally IGNORE you. If you whisper them, when they get back to their keyboard, they will see your whisper, as whispers are in a separate window from the room.
ANYTIME you're having a problem, feel free to whisper an OP.
If you're not sure who the OPs are, just whisper another roomie, they'll tell you.
NOTE: YES - THE NAME #40s50s4Fun INDICATES THIS IS AN ADULT CHAT ROOM.
BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT CUSSING OR VULGARITY OR GRAPHIC
SEXUAL CONTENT IS ACCEPTABLE.
ALOT OF OUR CHATTERS ARE ON WEBTV, WHICH PUTS US RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF
THEIR LIVING ROOMS, IN A LOT OF CASES. WHY NOT RESPECT THAT?
BESIDES THAT ~ I KNOW I DON'T WANT TO SEE CRAP ROLLING ACROSS MY SCREEN,
AND NEITHER DO THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP COMING BACK.
We all have our strong views regarding politics and religion.
It's ok to talk about either one for a little while, but I prefer that it not dominate the room for a long period of time. WHY? Because it ALWAYS leads to an argument,
or someone insulting someone else. Yes, ALWAYS!
There are rooms in starchat that are dedicated to the 2 topics,
and myself and my OPS will strongly recommend that people go there if
they want to get into heavy discussions regarding Politics or Religion.
It's ok to let roomies talk about a political topic for a little bit, I'm just asking that we
steer it in another direction if it's getting controversial.
Some OPs on computers LOG the room. This is mainly because if any problems arise,
there's no question about what happened in the open room, should it be needed.
No problems with "who" to believe in a "she said this" ~ "she said that" situation.
You'd be surprised at how many times a problem can be quickly cleared up
with looking at the log from the room. Sometimes it's nothing more than someone
misreading or misunderstanding what another person said.
In the case of a flooder, or someone who has popped in the room to be vulgar,
or to advertise porn... STARCHAT sometimes requests a log, and they frown
on things if you can't produce one.
OPs CANNOT see your whispers!
The only whispers an OP can see are their own! Just like anyone else!
If you get UNWANTED whispers, let an OP know, and we'll get them
to stop. Nicely of course :-)
You can whisper an OP without asking first anytime you are having a problem.
It's not something any OP enjoys doing, but is sometimes necessary.
When a nick is just KICKED, they are able to pop right back in the room.
This tool is used when a WARNING is deemed necessary by an OP.
Sometimes all you see is that the nick is kicked, but don't know why.
Usually it comes after the OP has tried to get cooperation in whisper first,
with no luck :-(
An OP will automatically kick a nick for using obscene language
or being blatantly raunchy. Sometimes a nick is kicked for disrupting the room
by being rude or obnoxious, and roomies and/or OPs have done
everything they can to get cooperation from the person, with no luck.
It's pretty much a judgment call, and usually the OPs have patience.
If it's bad enough, the nick may be banned, as it's usually intentional, and we don't want them back. When a nick is banned, usually it's just for 24 hours.
If the behavior was bad enough, or if the nick comes back and decides they
want to act the same way, then we may decide to permanently ban the nick.
We do our very best to try to give people chances to modify their behavior to "fit in" with what we want for our room. Sometimes though, they just don't "GET IT".
THIS NEXT SECTION IS FOR ADULTS ONLY!
The following are the GUIDELINES for ALL OPs
of the policies I want enforced in our room.
We want you to have fun as usual in the room, not FLAUNT OUR OPS!
We are just like everyone else, we just have the "tools" to "KEEP" our room "NICE"!
PLEASE DON'T CHANGE!
Flirting and carrying on is super, but if it starts to get too graphic... it's time to ask whoever is involved to please take it to whisper.
USUALLY, the best way to get cooperation is to
"KILL'EM WITH KINDNESS"!
The words that are NEVER acceptable are:
"F" word, pussy, cum, asshole, calling someone a Bitch or a slut,
nigger, niggar, nigga, masterbate, ejaculate
PLEASE IMMEDIATELY KICK! get them out!
If you just kicked, when the nick pops back in, let them know IN THE ROOM
that they will be banned if the language is used again.
In the case of using the word "pussy" make sure in what context the word is being used.
Same with the use of the word "bitch"
---I know you know the difference between saying something referring to a pussy cat,
or saying something like "my ex bitched too much"
NOTE: The word pussy can also refer to an infection...
ie: "the sty on my eye got so pussy I had to go to the Doctor"
If roomies "react" an op can offer in the room: "roomies, there was no raunchy meaning
in the use of that word. Nick is referring to an infection.. so let's move on..."
If you've seen them using the same words before, ban them immediately!
Let me know their nick so I can put them on autoban. We don't want them back.
REMINDER: This always pertains to "regulars" and other OPS as well.
The word "horny" usually leads to raunchy chatting...
so please PUT THIS IN THEIR WHISPER when you see it used a 2nd time...
"We prefer that you say feisty or frisky in this room. The "H" word is crude. Thank you."
NO matter what you're going into someone's whisper for... be nice about it!
Most people cooperate and respond in a nice manner when treated nicely and with respect. Please identify yourself as being an OP the very first thing you say, and always end your statement or request with a thank you.
We need to treat others as we'd like to be treated were we in a room and an OP
whispered us because of a room policy we may not be aware of.
OK, let's talk about the word "SHIT"
A lot of the time a roomie will say we spell that chyt or chit. You can too.
As long as it doesn't keep being repeated, I tend to let it slide.

I don't think those 2 abbreviations belong in a nice room.
Although I don't think a roomie should be kicked for using it ... I'd like us to treat those abbreviations just as we do the word horny -- ask them nicely to not use them.
What happens - even if they are kidding with each other..
people come in and wonder what kind of room they came into.
They think we are really rude :-(
Arguing in our room is NOT PERMITTED --- EVER!
That's not what people come in our room to see!
Unless it's BLATANT--- as described above.
If ANY OP is not sure of what the action should be, or if there should be any action at all...
then ASK ANOTHER OP, or get with Luverly.
So that other OPs know you are handling a situation, say "OPs, I got it"
so that only one OP goes into a chatter's whisper.
If ANY OP has a question about why a nick was kicked, and wants to ask the OP who did the kicking
about it--- PLEASE ask the other op about the kick in whisper!
I expect full cooperation with each other!!
When an OP is handling a situation, please do not step in unless you are ASKED.
As I said, this is a TEAM EFFORT, and I am insistent that we all fully cooperate with each
other at all times. OPs can become too quick to kick!
I have asked you to be an OP because there was something I saw in you which made
me feel you'd be good at helping to keep this a good room.
An OP who starts abusing the tools they have, is high-handed, or doesn't do things in accordance to how OPs policies are outlined on this page will be de-opped. It's not been a problem in the past, and I don't want it to be a problem in the future--- When you do something as an OP in 40s50s4Fun, it should be done tactfully & nicely whenever possible! This is not a raunchy room--- but it's not a church meeting either.
Please "read the room" and what the chatters want.
